And what a weekend it was!! From Wednesday evening until Sunday night Emma and I stayed at my parents house, because the husband got to go enjoy himself at Police Week in DC. Emma and I were sad to see him go, but this was one of the best weekends I have had in a long time. I just wish the hubs had been here for some of it!
Friday we laid low and got our grocery shopping list together and the house in some what of order. The next morning I had a hair appointment and some errands to run and mom took Emma with her to get the groceries (not the easiest thing to do, she has wandering hands and a hungry belly).
Blaine, my brother from another mother, graduated from college that morning so we made our way over to the school just in time for some cap and gown pictures and nothing more. Those things are TERRIBLY boring and long, especially when a one and a half year old is involved!
{Emma thought it was the perfect time to pick her nose haha, Blaine loved it!}
{Blaine and his adorable girlfriend Meghan!!}
{Blaine's second familia! I swear my father never knows where the camera is, and Emma is just a fresh girl!}
Later in the evening Blaine's parents took us (23 people total) out to a local restaurant to celebrate Blaine's accomplishments (graduating and impending commissioning). His parents gave a nice speech about Blaine and thanked my parents for serving as second and sometimes first parents to him.
{My adorable brothers getting ready to go to dinner!}
{Mi familia! Scope out how excited/happy Emma is in this picture haha}
And next we went back to my parents house for dessert and coffee, because we had to wait until midnight so Blaine could get commissioned (really long story as to why so late haha). His father is also in the Marine Corps and because of his rank was able to hold the commissioning ceremony, which I really got choked up at. I am just so proud of him, he has matured into this man who is now going to lead other men. In ever sense of the word Blaine is my brother and really one of my best friends and Saturday was such a great to celebrate all of his accomplishments. I just wish the hubby was able to be here (again he would have if his trip hadn't bee planned previously and this was a bit last minute), because he is a Marine and would have appreciated seeing Blaine get pinned and being apart of it all!
{Blaine and his second parents}
{Blaine and his first family, whom we LOVE}
{Blaine had his mother and my mother pin his shoulder bars on him. He gave them these beautiful white roses to show is appreciation for them}
{Blaine, the baby brother, and I} (This was at about 1 am and pregnant momma's should never be up this late)
After staying up this late I was still only able to sleep in until 8:30am, but my girlfriend slept until 9:30am because she is a good little girly! We were not even able to relax though, because at 1 am my mom had (previous to the commissioning ceremony being planned for Saturday night) planned to have a girls luncheon in celebration of Miss Isabelle Catherine and her impending arrival. I had an AMAZING shower when I was pregnant with Emma, so this time around my mom wanted to at least celebrate Izzie before she got here! I want to thank Jenn over at
West Sac Honey for giving me SO many recipes, two of which I went with (Tomato basil orzo and Bruschetta) and Caroline over at
Simply Smithwick for recommending Bunco Buns!
{One side of the table: Turkey Tortilla wraps, Tomato Basil Orzo, Bunco Buns, and Guacamole pizza}
{Other side: Chinese chicken salad, more bunco buns, fruit salad, and Bruschetta. Cupcake tower in the middle (they were TO DIE FOR)}
{Candy favor bar!!}
{Emma and Isabelle got these two shirts from my fabulous friend Jill (not pictured) so my little sisters in Gamma Phi thought ti would be cute to grab them for a photo op!!}
{My lovely friends from high school and college}
{Friends from college/sorority sisters feeling the belly!}
{Friends from home!}
{Amy stayed later than everyone and I am so glad, it is rare when this girl is not busy with one thing or another and we got to catch up & she played with my Emma girl outside for quite some time!!} (PS go check out her blog
101 Things in 1001 Days)
This was not supposed to be a gift giving thing, just a celebration of Isabelle's life (haha this sounds weird every time I write it, but its what my mom kept saying so what Ellen says goes!), however the amazing friends and family that I have brought some ADORABLE clothes for the baby and Emma got some cute things too (very nice not to be left out when you are the big sister). Emma and Izzie got the cutest table and chair set and my little sister Alanna (and photographer check her
blog out) make the most beautiful frames for both girls! To say that I am lucky to have these people in my life is an understatement, so thank you everyone!
Sorry this is such a long post, but it is filled with happiness and love for my friends and family! Its always hard to see a weekend like this go by, but the husband should be home in T minus 30 minutes, so thats all folks!
