First things first, Taylor over at The Undomestic Momma is hosting a $25 gift card giveaway to Paisley Pinneapple. Lots of cute stuff on that site, I am thinking either a duffle or a nursing cover would do me right! So head on over and enter to win!
Now on to Kelsey over @ the Seattle Smiths Wishful Wednesday!
'I wish' .... I was fluent in another language in addition to English, and it would be Ukrainian!
This may sound random, and if you asked me 5 years ago and earlier I would have said French because my aunt and uncle lived there for awhile and two of my cousins are fluent in French. I also have been to Paris and it was amazing!!
So, why the change to Ukrainian all of the sudden you ask. Well, my husband was born and lived there until he was 9 years old. Although he and his mom, brother, and dad have been here for 18 years, his mother and father and many more of his family members only speak in Ukrainian at family functions. It drives me NUTS, but I am the outcast who doesn't speak the language in that crowd, so I get to sit and twiddle my thumbs. Not that I am bitter. Once I am done with school, I would like to get rosetta stone and learn to speak the language. My mother-in-law already has Emma understanding some things, but by no means is she able to communicate the same in English as Ukrainian.
So there ya go...Ukrainian it is!
Have a wonderful Wednesday and Cinco de Mayo. I hope you are all out celebrating the festiveness that is Cinco de Mayo, please enjoy a margarita or 2 for me!!
Hi Shelby! I am your newest follower! Ukranian. Wow, I ma having flashback of an incident when I was a commander, involving a ukranian...but it is a lot like Russian, at least to me. :)
ReplyDeletewow! that is a random choice :) but i love the reasoning :)
ReplyDeletei hope everyone has a marg for me too!!! for both of us :) we'll make up for it next year ... ;)
THats awesome. I was shocked to see such diverse responses on this topic...i figured they would mainly be spanish and french like you said
ReplyDeleteHaha I love it! You shouldn't tell anyone that you're doing it, and you can totally catch Irina off guard. Too much?
ReplyDeleteIf you are looking for Rosetta Stone, honestly check out craigslist. A lot of companies buy it to train employees, but they upgrade every time Rosetta Stone comes out with a new version and sell the old ones they can't use anymore. I know full price it's pretty expensive, but I saw some on craigslist for like $200 maybe.
okay, this is awesome. it's so cool that you married into a ukranian family!!! i totally think you could learn... you won't have your hands full or anything with two kids and all. ; )
ReplyDeleteHey girly! I just stumbled up your wedding pictures on facebook when looking at a photog a friend had become a fan of! How random right! Beautiful pictures :)
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful! I just heard on the radio about a new program that helps you learn languages easier much the way that we learn english!
